Colmenar del Arroyo has seven bridges in total, but the most important are the two Romanesque-style bridges that cross the Arroyo. It is believed that they could be built in the 15th century, more specifically, between the years 1484 and 1489, they are the Puente de la Fragua and the Puente del Caño.

BRIDGE OF THE FRAGUA

The Bridge of the Forge has a single eye in the shape of a semicircular arch, the thread is built with very regular ashlars and the tympanums with masonry. Its profile is rounded and the parapet, also made of ashlar masonry and crowned like a coping by semicircular pieces, is finished off at its ends with four cylindrical stone pieces.

This bridge served so that the Colmenareños could travel from the neighborhood below to the Hermitage of San Vicente.

The Cordel del Puente de Juan crosses the municipality at this point.

CAÑO BRIDGE

The Puente del Caño is located on Army Street, right in front of the laundry, the fountain and the watering hole.

It was rebuilt on a previous one, around the year 1760. It has two eyes with semicircular arches, one of them is slightly lowered due to the fact that something is buried. The vault and the thread are made of ashlar masonry, with two spillways at the ends, to discharge the excess water. The irregular paving slabs are preserved, it is believed that they are the original ones, as well as the worn petrile poytes. This bridge communicated the town and the orchards with the fountain and the trough.

PALO BRIDGE

At the entrance of the town, in front of the El Sotoreal urbanization, there is a modern bridge, which we must refer to for its little history.

It owes its name to the fact that it was originally made of "palo"; of wood. In the same location where the old bridge was, the current road was built with the remains of the hermitage of San Roque, which was on the estate of "Las Viñuelas". The entrance gate to said estate, we can see currently, , just before we pass the bridge in question.
