For centuries, Colmenar's clothes were washed in the stream, making it even more difficult, if possible, a laborious task in itself, especially in winter, when women had to break the ice that was made on the surface to be able to carry out their work. work.

With the first equipment and infrastructures, from the 40s and 50s, the construction of the laundry arrived, making this work lighter, since the water came out, from a tap, which came directly from the stream, to the sinks, and, being a building, inclement weather was more bearable.

The laundry was a workplace, but also a meeting place, a gathering place!

With the arrival of running water in the houses, they gained quality of life, but this complicity and this special universe among women was lost, and little by little it fell into disuse.

On the west side, we find the town's anthem, whose lyrics and music are the work of the master Mario Selles.

In front of the entrance door of the laundry we find a stone in the shape of a canal that represents the Aqueduct of Segovia and is a gift from the aforementioned city to the people for its joint past.
